Upgrading to NEW EMV Integration (Dec, 2017)

If your facility is located in the U.S. or Canada and you are currently using integrated chip-cards/EMV with Rock Gym Pro, you can use a new and improved integration to your EMV terminal by following the instructions below. This new integration (introduced Dec, 2017 ) will speed up current transaction times and improve performance.

Note: The following instructions are only for U.S. or Canadian facilities currently using EMV with RGP integrated through OpenEdge.  If you are using a standalone terminal NOT integrated with RGP, this update does not apply.

 

1. Acquire the EdgeExpress Library
On all computers with an attached EMV terminal running the Remote Client Manager (RCM), download and install the latest version of the RCM. Performing this update will install the EdgeExpress library from OpenEdge.

Note: The RCM is no longer required with the new integration method, but updating to the latest version of the RCM is an easy way to acquire the EdgeExpress library and also keep the RCM available should you want to rollback to the RCM integration method.


While installing the updated RCM and EdgeExpress Library, you may receive a command line popup with an error message similar to the screenshot below. You can ignore this message, which simply indicates that there was no firmware update available for the EMV terminal. The update will have been successful, despite this error message appearing.

2. IMPORTANT- Go to Manage -> Settings -> Payments and Billing.
For Point of Sale and Billing (assuming you are using OpenEdge for both gateways) click Configure and select the Edge Express EMV via XPressLink integration method.

(Note: If you are using Stripe for billing, no action is required for the Billing Gateway)

3. TEST THE UPDATE!
Restart the RGP POS application and try a test credit card transaction. Confirm that you can successfully store a credit card on a member on their EFT/Billing tab using the new integration method.
