Barcode scanner suggestion

I've written an iPhone app for my local gym that uses RGP, and one of the features I put in was the ability to scan a member's key fob into the device, so you can hold your phone/ipod up to the check-in scanner to check-in. Unfortunately, the red laser scanner can't read the barcode from the device... any suggestions for a barcode scanner that can read from mobile devices and integrate well with RGP?

Thanks!

  • RGP integrates with any keyboard emulating barcode scanner, so the limitation is in the scanner not RGP.

Unfortunately, I don't think any standard barcode scanner will be able to read the iphone screen. You might try contacting http://www.posguys.com and asking if they have any recommendations.

  • The 1504 corded 2D barcodes scanner/reader combines versatility with speed and efficiency for a wide range of applications. Supporting both 1D and 2D barcodes, the 1504 reads high density 1D barcode as small as 3 mil and 2D barcodes commonly printed on medicine packaging. The option of autosense scanning adds extra convenience and comfort for workers handling intensive scanning tasks. Full featured and fast, the 1504 is the best choice for retail, pharmaceutical, and post office settings.

  • Hello Benoram,

Is your iPhone app published, so that we can use it?
Did you optimize it to work over a wifi network, having both the device and the computer connected to it.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Someone recently purchased this scanner, and said it is VERY fast. It does support iPhone screens for those interested.
