Disk Space needed
Can someone provide guidance on a recommended amount of disk space for the Backend Server?
Barring any better info I'm going to go with:
1TB (two 1TB disks in RAID 1 configuration).

Oh... and should we dedicate this server to RGP? Would we cause performance problems for RGP by trying to run other applications on it?
1TB disks will be plenty. For the record, the typical RGP database is < 20 GB. But might as well go big at the start, disk space is cheap :)
The issue is not other applications on your server, the issue is staff doing evil things to the computer....
If you don't want to have problems with your server, let it sit alone in the back room and have nobody touch it!
I figured the DB would be small compared with size of modern disks.
Thanks for the advice about leaving the server alone.
On "leaving the server alone"...
I can't stress this enough to all the gyms reading this.... everyone wonders why their servers crash, or weird applications get installed, or viruses, or the backup stops working, etc.... and it usually always begins with the staff doing something.
Recent example: "cleaning the server with too much windex" (as if there is an OK amount of windex!) It fried the server. Of course, the server was sitting out where it was begging to be cleaned. If it was in the back room - out of sight and out of mind... there would have been no windex!
My favourite one so far is 'it was dusty, so I flicked the vacuum on reverse and blew it out.' Because a vacuum blowing is exactly the same as a compressed air canister for blowing dust, clearly.
