Can rgp be configured to trigger a turnstile during check-in?

We control access with a turnstile and would need the check-in process include triggering the opening of the turnstile. Is this possible ? Eg. if RGP could be configured to open a cash drawer on check-in then we could probably rig it to open the turnstile instead.

  • What model (link ideally) turnstile do you have?

  • The turnstile is a Hayward turnstile triggered by an American Microsystems serial port scanner.

  • I've sent Hayward a request for integration information. I've had a number of customers express interest in a turnstile, so it might be time for RGP to support it.

  • We currently trigger the turnstile via the browser -> serial port link. It doesn't seem to be that important to integrate directly with the turnstile. We just need the check-in process to be able to send a signal to the serial port just like it does for a cash register during pos transactions.

  • What we're gonna do is use an audio triggered relay so that when RGP plays the ding it will trigger the turnstile. A little cludgy because we'll have to assign a silent audio file for any other sound RGP will want to make but its necessary because we require the turnstile for insurance purposes.

  • Interesting, and creative solution!

It would only be temporary as I do plan to support turnstiles within 12 months. It really isn't that hard.

  • Hello Andy
I too have a turnstiles, which is open with a tag and do the check in our current software. We can prevent user to check in again for a period of time. So like that they don't open the turnstiles to other non members.

Can i send you our relay model so you can check it out ?
    Thanks

    Steve

  • Hello Audrey,
My understanding is Andy has decided not to support the turnstiles in RGP, as there are too many models and it would be impossible to test.
I will send you an email with a little more information.

  • Can we get a best practices on the workaround possibilities?

    We'd love to use this.

  • Shoot me an email directly kenneth and I'll put you in contact with Vertical Endeavors. They developed a bridge piece of hard that allows RGP to work with a turnstile (+ some software from me). They charge for the bridge and can suggest the turnstile model.
