Check ins

We are opening a new gym. We have 2 front desk computers. We have 1 for check in with a scanner (honeywell) for our key card. The other computer is for POS, etc and does not have a scanner for the key card. The POS computer has our credit card reader. So, if a new member walks in, we want to take their info, take their picture, run their credit card. But, if we want to give them a key card for their next check, it seems we have to bounce over to our "check in computer" since that is where the scanner is located.

Am I right in thinking that I would need 2 key card scanners, 1 for each computer, to stream line this process?

  • If you keytags are short #s, you can just type them into the check-in screen on the POS computer. Or look them up by name. But if you want to "scan" into both computers, yes - you'd need two scanners.

  • We do it manually on the POS computer, works fine because we only have a 7 digit bar code.
So we only have a scanner at the check in desk.
