Adobe causing freeze

There appears to be an issue with the new version of adobe which causes RGP to freeze when attaching a document to a file. Adobe tries to open itself outside RGP. Any suggestions? Has anyone else encountered this? It doesn't show a previous version to rollback to.

  • Can you open PDFs within Internet Explorer using Adobe? I have not heard of this issue at any other gyms currently.

Here is one Google search result:

    http://www.jobsnd.com/sites/default/files/Configure%20the%20browser%20to%20open%20PDF%20files%20in%20an%20Acrobat%20window.pdf

If you can get it to open in IE, it will open in RGP.

  • Adobe is enabled in Explorer and it loads correctly in the document window. The freeze occurs when we actually link it to a customer. It last a few seconds and tries to open adobe in an external window before going through. Could it be an issue with chrome being our default browser since adobe acrobat is no longer compatible with chrome?

  • Chrome is my default browser and I am not experiencing the behavior you describe.

Is this on all computers, or just one? As for when it is freezing... this leads me to believe something else is going on, as nothing related to attaching a document opens a NEW document. You seem to indicate the document is properly displayed prior to the attachment. Have you reviewed Adobe's settings to make sure there isn't something else going on that Adobe is trying to do?

  • This is happening on multiple computers. It seems to have started when we ran the new windows update last week. I'm reviewing the adobe settings now.

  • How do you know Adobe is trying to open a window?

  • I see the icon appear briefly on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. I've found and resolved the issue. It appears that Adobe Acrobat DC was installed as an update last week replacing Adobe XI. I've reinstalled Adobe XI and everything appears to be working fine now.
