debit transactions
Does RGP support debit transactions? I signed up with OpenEdge and have debit and credit processing and the terminal has a chip reader. They informed me that I would not be able to process my debit transactions through RGP because RGP does not support debit. I do have a debit merchant account and my PIN pad supports debit...so how can I process debit if RGP is my POS software? Not sure if that makes sense...I forgot to add we are in Canada, if that makes a difference.

At this time RGP does not support debit transactions, and EMV is only in testing mode (because of a delay on OpenEdge's side). Debit support is planned for the end of the year. OpenEdge should not have set you up with an EMV terminal yet... and I've contacted them on your behalf.
Historically, all Canadian RGP users have been using standalone credit card terminals for POS credit/debit transactions and only used the integrated OpenEdge processing for billing transactions.
My suggestion is to continue this. You can hold on to your EMV hardware for the Canadian EMV/debit rollout, but there is no timeline on this.
You may be able to use the terminal provided by OpenEdge as a standalone credit/debit terminal, but I am not sure about this.
