Shareholders
We've got several shareholders that we want to set up to have free memberships and classes for themselves, but need to pay for kids classes. We also want staff to be alerted in some way if they check in a shareholder.
My current thought is to use the free member option and set a note containing an alert to inform staff of other conditions. I've also set up a shareholder sub-type to use.
What would be the best way to do this? Could there be a "shareholder" customer type?

I think your suggestion is the best. Use the free type, subtype of shareholder, and an alerted note. This seems to cover all the basis :)
