Waiver verification
Hi guys,
I'm just trying to get my head around how online waivers are verified and what steps we can take in gym to weed out people who are falsely signing for minors who aren't their own kids.
The online form requires email verification but it seems to send this to the email for the participant, not the person signing the waiver (for minors). Shouldn't the confirmation go to the adult signing? I see several instances in our system right now where the email address used for a minor is clearly their own email and the online form seems to prompt this as email addresses are entered while entering participant info not while signing.
I can create a field for parent's to enter their own email addresses as well as their name and phone number but is there a way to make the yellow window that says confirm your email default to the parent's email for minors?
Thanks!

The current workaround I have for this is to put in a text prompt that shows up above email address when the participant age is under 18 and asks for parent email rather than participant email.
Still curious if this is an issue that anyone else has encountered before. What are your steps for verifying digital documents when they come in? Do you refuse documents that appear to be verified by the participants own email address when they are under the age of 18?
The email is sent to whatever email is entered on the final step of the waiver where the prompt is "Your Email Address". Presumably the PARENT is signing the waiver, thus it will go to them. If a child completes the waiver and puts their email in the box, that's not really controllable.
Hi Andy, The concern I had was that the with the way the form is laid out by default. You enter the participants contact info first, including email address. For minors this kind of suggests that we are looking for the minor's email not the parents. Then when you get to the end the form auto fills that email address in the first line of the yellow section about email verification. I can see a lot of people thinking "oh they want it sent to that email? ok..." not realizing they can overwrite that first field.
The work around I've found is to add text that pops up right above email address in the first page if the birthdate is under 18. The text says something to the effect of "For minors please enter the email address of the signing parent or guardian". That way we have a better chance that the email that pops up for email verification is the correct one.
What I was initially wondering was if I could collect parent email as a separate field and then have the form auto fill the email confirmation with the parent's email whenever the participant was a minor.
You control all the content on the initial form, including the email label, and if you would rather it say "Parent/Guardian Email Address", you can. You may need to add some age rules to the form if you want it to display differently for the age of the participant. But this is all in your control via the Edit Form window.
Hope this helps
Andy
Thanks Andy, I managed to do what you just described yesterday with a little bit of tinkering. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing an opportunity to modify what showed up in the confirm email field directly.
I think we have everything sorted now, thanks again!
