Instructor Assignments - Do instructors have to be made employees/staff

We employ freelance instructors (sub contractors) to do all our physical instructing and desk staff to do all the sale's and running of the wall.

As a result we don't want to have to make our instructors into staff on RGP's employee tab in order to use the Instructor Assignments - Filter on staff , function.

Currently to get around the issue, we add instructors as time clock only, which gives them no access to POS or the till, but enables them to appear in the, Filter on staff, function in Instructors Assignments.

Are we missing something or is this meant to be the case.
