Mobile only redirection for booking online

Hi,

It seems that when viewing pages that have the embed code on them, on mobile, they are redirecting to JUST the booking page on RGP. It seems that the script for the bookings is forwarding the page to the RGP site, this would be via a javascript mobile check?

How can I get around this? Currently, if you view this page (linked below) you can see, fine on desktop , but drops all page content and redirects on mobile. The issue here is that mobile users don't get the information that is critical to the booking - I don't really want to add another page in-between, as it's just one more click an end user to escape from!

Thanks
Chris

  • Yes, that is the default behavior of the widget. In our opinion it offers the best user experience as it dedicates the entire mobile browser for the form.

    It can overriden though.:

See the WEBMASTER GUIDE on the following link, and look at the end in the MOBILE BROWSERS section.

  • To further elaborate on this: what about using the multiple embedded widgets method with custom callback url?

Specifically, I've got my "classes" page (http://stpete.verticalventures.com/climbing-classes/) using the no redirect script, and I want to be able to link to an offering within that widget from a different page. This works great on desktop, but on mobile it gets redirected to app.rockgympro.com. Anyway to prevent this? • To link to a offering use the html provided when you select an offering in the Online Widgets window in RGP. There is specific html for linking to an offering. The offerings are listed in the lower, left.

  • Andy -

Regardless of whether I use the html code found under "Link URL" in the "Widget Website Code" tab of the single offering widget box...

    or

...the html code found under the "offering link url" in the "Widget Website Code" tab of a multiple offering catalog widget...

linking to the offering, on a mobile browser(iphone), does not use the callback url and instead goes to app.rockgympro.com. On a desktop it works fine.

Is this perhaps iphone specific and its working fine on other mobile devices?

Are you able to click on my second link posted above (in a mobile browser) and end up on my callback page(stpete.verticalventures.com) instead of app.rockgympro.com?

    Thanks for the help!

  • Sorry, missed your follow up post.

Yes, this apparently is a limitation of linking INTO a widget.

Have you tried creating a dedicated page on your side to house the script tag for a single offering? i.e. just create a "learn to belay page" and embed the single offering widget's script tag and I suspect that will work.

  • Thanks Andy. Is there a way to call the "no redirect script" with a url?

  • No, a "URL" literally reloads a page - by definition. You'll want to create a custom landing page for that offering on your site and embed the offering's specific script tag.
