sales tax reports versus sales reports

So trying to figure out which report to use for our sales figures/accounting. Our sales tax reports show different amounts than our sales reports. Also- we have no tax exempt items yet we show, on the sales tax report, some tax exempt sales (not just the close-out adjustments).
Help?

Thanks-

  • The sales reports can include unpaid invoices.

You want to use the Sales Tax report which includes ONLY paid invoices.

As for the sales tax report showing tax-exempt products... either 1) you *had* tax exempt products when the transactions occurred or 2) your staff clicked the "tax exempt" transaction checkbox when adding the items to the transaction. This can be PIN protected via Settings if desired.

  • Andy-
    Thanks for the quick reply!
Sales tax report- is there a way to chose only paid invoices? Unfortunately, we have just the basic RGP version.

  • Sales tax report IS only paid invoices. It's the sales reports that have both. This is the same in the paid vs free version.
