Prepaid to EFT

For our grand opening I'd like to offer members a 3-month prepaid membership that automatically converts into a monthly EFT, but I can't seem to find a way to do this. I like the idea of selling the 3-month packages at a great discount, then having it transition into a regular, month-to-month membership. I'm guessing I could go in manually and change every customer when their 3 months are up, but I was hoping there would be some way to automate it. Anybody had any experience with this that can give me some insight? Or maybe a different way to achieve the same end result via a different method?

  • There is no automatic way to have them transition to EFT.

    My suggestion

    - Swipe the credit card to capture it when they sign up
    - Configure them for the 3 month prepaid
    - Tag them with some unique tag (or use a subtype) so you can periodically query for the list and move them to EFT.

    Hope this helps

  • What if you set them up as EFT members initially (rather than pre-paid), but set their "Next Bill Date" to 3 months in the future?

  • That still won't make it automatic. After the prepaid expires the customers will have a termination status on them and will need to be made "OK" for billing to commence.

  • Would I use the same approach described above (set customer to prepaid and then manually move them over to EFT) for the following scenario:
    - When become an EFT member, customer pays first 2 months up front, and then in month 3 EFT billing starts?

    Thanks.

  • Just move the next bill date +3 months ahead if the customer has already paid for the first three months. They won't be billed until that date, and then will be billed after that date.
