upc membership cards
We provide our members with UPC membership cards in order to facilitate check in. Clients swipe their cards to get in. The same beeping sound appears when Punches are automatically removed and for anyone with a prepaid or eft membership and a different sound beeps when the member needs to pay, which is great.
Here's my problem - we have recently discovered that if a thump or object obstructs the UPC code it still rings as if the member has checked in but they do not appear in our check in nor does it remove a punch. We have relied on the sound but now have to really double check that the person is really checked in. Is this something other gyms have experienced and what can I do about it.

Your barcode scanner will make a "beep", independent of RGP. That is simply the scanner reading the code and has nothing to do with RGP.
When you say a "thump or obstruction" still rings the member as checked in, I can only assume you are talking about the barcode scanner beep or the "FAIL" sound in RGP.
The "FAIL" sound in RGP is the sound played if no member matches the scan and it defaults to a different sound then a successful check-in for exactly this reason. Perhaps someone changed your default FAIL sound to match the "OK" sound?
Regardless, all sounds can be configured in Settings -> This Workstation -> Customize Sounds.
If you have different sounds for these events than there should be absolutely no confusion. If you don't want to customize the sounds, just make sure each sound has the DEFAULT attached.
Bottom line - if your sounds are configured properly there should be ZERO confusion.
