the new check in procedure
Andy,
We have been using the check-in from POS system but when there is someone with a punch card who purchases a day pass because they want to save their punch for some reason it will automatically take a punch from them when we complete the check in. We have to go back and and manually put a punch back in and if we were forget to do this for some reason then our customer loses a punch. We could just not click them when asked but would like to track all check-ins. Am I missing something? Suggestions? If this system would give us a choice whether to use a punch or not this could make things a little better.
Thanks! Scott

Your staff needs to just not check the box, and that particular check-in won't be recorded (which really isn't the end of the world).
Why?
There are a million different scenarios at POS - perhaps I am buying a punch card for myself and a day pass for someone else. Then what should RGP do since it doesn't know who is for what? etc. etc.
The only realistic alternative would be to have RGP prompt the staff every time a punch card user is checked in via POS (which would be all the time when they purchase a punch card), thus it would substantially increase the risk that a punch would not be debited under normal circumstances and/or increase the workflow on all those events, in exchange for handling is situation which is much, much rarer.
It's an operational trade off - burden the staff every time a punch card is sold, or have a few rare situations not record a check-in.
A reminder that this is no different than RGP has always behaved - meaning if you checked in a punch card user after they purchased a day pass, it would have debited a punch.
I waited a long time before implementing the POS check-in feature for exactly this reason - there are many unique circumstances where the default behavior of a POS check-in feature will not be correct, and your staff needs to be properly trained on how to handle these fringe cases. IMO, this is far better than RGP prompting a million superfluous "do you want to...?" questions on transactions.
Alternately, you *can* choose not to enable the check-in feature for punch cards if you are concerned about punches being improperly debited.
