untended check in

How can we configure our system so that members can check in via the scanner without a staff member being there to actively select the check in screen and hit enter? We are a small gym and often have all on duty staff on the floor giving lessons while members cue up at the counter.

Best,

Matt

  • Hello Matt,
You would need to have the RGP Check-in module open on your computer and a bar code scanner for your members to scan in their member card. They walk in scan their cards and workout. If you staff needs to sell something, then they would switch over to the POS module and switch back to Check-in after they are finished. I am guessing you only use one computer at your facility. Many gyms have, and use, a dedicated check-in computer for the members to scan their cards. The staff would need to be trained to listen for the warning sound generated when a member scans their card in, such as past due balance. Then the staff would have to deal with the warning.

Matt, have you given any more consideration to signing up for RGP support? Here is the link to RGP's support page: http://www.rockgympro.com/?page_id=535

    Thank you,
    Amy

  • Thanks for the quick reply. We are indeed a one computer setup. We've talked about an independent check in station but I don't see how it would work. We've tried the procedure you mentioned. Even with the check in module open and selected, someone still needs to hint the enter key for the check in to occur, otherwise the card scans but nothing else happens. Am I missing something simple?

    Best,

    Matt

  • Your barcode scanner is incorrectly configured not to issue a return after scanning the card.

You need to find out how to modify that setting in your scanner (Google it for your scanner model) as the setting is not controlled by RGP.

    Hope this helps
    Andy
