latest update: problem looking up by first name
Andy,
RGP used to be able to look up people in check in and POS by first name if you put a comma first. Since the latest update (5-15-10), it doesn't seem to do that any more. Remembering last names as well as first names can be very difficult. It was very handy to be able to look them up by first name without going into advanced search, it also limited the search to people with only that first name. Could this function be reinstated please?

Andy,
I just noticed, that this still works in POS but not data entry or check in.

You can search by first name via Adv Search -> By Name.
The feature before was actually an accident that had to change to support different check in card strings.
Checking customers in using the comma was much easier and quicker as you could do it from the main checkin screen and it it only came up with people with that first name. If you use the advanced search and by name, it come up with any one with that string of letters anywhere in their name.
Could searching by first name from the main checkin and data entry screens be a feature that is added? We have large rush periods, like youth club or groups of adults that climb together all showing up at the same time. AS we are very small, we do not have a checkin terminal or a bar code scanner for cards (nor do we want to issue cards). It is far more efficient to be able to check them in as they come in, knowing their first names. It is also excellent customer service to be able to check them in with out asking their last name every week.
Cheers,
Clay
I'll see if I can put that back in the next update. Amazingly, other users have complained too - and this was a "feature" I didn't even know about!!
We discovered it by accident, and my staff would use it when they couldn't find someone by last name.
Cheers Andy,
It was a fantastic feature and we will be looking forward to having it back. I love how responsive you are to your users. It only makes using RGP better.

Thanks for adding that back in!
