Migrate Database to new PC machine
Hi guys. Been using RGP for a few months now at the premises. Wanted to know how I could go about migrating the databse over to my home PC so I could run maintenance on it from home?
I've tried backing up the database from the master pc, then installing RGP and mySQL etc on my home pc, and then restoring the backup, but I always get MySQL errors related to missing tables or something like that :s

Hello,
Thank you for choosing RGP to manage your facility. RGP does offer support, which would includes a secure offsite backup of your database. Details for RGP's support can be found here: http://www.rockgympro.com/?page_id=535
The best way to work remotely with your RGP database is to use a remote login, such as LogMeIn (https://secure.logmein.com/), which has a free version as well as a paid one.
You never want to run two versions of your database, this will lead you down the road to disaster! You do not want to run two versions of MySQL, please use a remote login system to access your database from home.
Thank you
Thanks for the swift reply Amy.
The reason I was asking is that the club will be shut for the next month and I need to do some maintenance of the system, e.g. extract phone numbers and store them into the company phonebook on google and the phone. I won't need the duplicate databases after I'm done.
I can't remote login to the system as its currently a standalone computer running on an internet usb dongle. the sql server is running in the background on the PC itself.
Hello
Legion Fitness is not on support, therefore, RGP does not have a backup of your database. So mucking around with moving the database always makes me nervous!
The process is not as simple as running a backup and moving the data to another computer. Basically, what you are trying to do is move your RGP database to a new computer.
The easiest solution is to get into the building. Is this not possible?
Hello,
Create a local backup file, copy it to the your home computer, then create a *blank* db and install the backup.
this should do the "trick".
Should the blank database have the same as the backed up one? in this case "lfec" is the name of the backed up one
Thanks
Hello,
It does not matter what you name the database.
Amy
Just an FYI, after migrating your RGP to a new server we now recommend you download and run the following configuration utility to optimize your MySQL settings
