apps for waivers and check in on android or apple device

Being a user from very early on, I have to say RGP only gets better and better.
I had a couple of thoughts the other day and it may be a huge undertaking, but could be worth looking at in the future.
Writing apps for either android or apple, or both to allow check in on entry. So if a customer has a smart phone with the app on it they could be checked in when they come in the door and notified on their device how many punches are left or when their next billed, etc. I know that is a huge undertaking, but would be cool.
The other idea I had, was to write an app for the digital waivers so an android tablet could be used instead of a desktop PC as the waiver station. If you wanted you could release it to the public as well. Then customers could fill out the waivers on their smart phone or tablet.
Just a couple of ideas to embrace the new technology being used. I know both would be major jobs, so food for thought.

Customers can currently fill out a waiver on their phone just by going to the online link for the waiver. The online waiver is fully operable from any web enabled phone.
Can it automatically transfer in like the waiver station does?

Yes, the waivers are delivered automatically. The customers will need to confirm an email on their iphone or android phone - thus this is designed for them to use THEIR phone.
I do intend to offer a version that doesn't require an email confirmation and then a gym can use a tablet for the waiver station... but there really isn't much benefit. You can get a touchscreen all-in-one computer for $500. A tablet is about the same price and you need some type of security/stand for it so it doesn't get stolen.
The waiver stations are currently working very well.

We use an assumption of risk form, but most people call them waivers. We still need to notify people that there is risk involved in the activity. They just can't sue us if they get hurt. The government can fine us though.
That's good to know. Touch screen computers are not that cheap here, but tablet are. They would also take up far less room in a small facility.
Like I said, just some thoughts I had. Not something we are particularly looking for as a necessity.

can we essentially use any tablet (say a Samsung with Android 4.0 as an OS) and use it as a waiver station? Let's say we've solved the security issue. Could they use a stylus to sign the waiver on the tablet? Could this remove the purpose of the signature capture device?

You can use an iPad for waivers. Many facilities use iPads.
As for Android, you'll want to test your specific tablet before comitting to purchasing more of them.

There are "kiosk" apps for iPads that wrap the browser. Not sure about Android.
