Regarding the new Move Records feature

Does this operation only operate on the invoices and other things attached to it or does it also merge the two customers together somehow ?

It just moves records, it does not attempt to merge the customer details as the specifics will vary in each case. You can then copy over the info you want to keep and delete the original customer.
