If your credit card processing goes down, the issue will be coming from Accelerated/Open Edge and their support staff will be able to assist. You can call them at 800.338.6614 x1.
One back up solution would be to have a Square account and a Square reader you can plug into your smartphone. There are no setup fees or monthly fees for Square, so you can have it at the front desk ready to go as an alternative in case of an emergency.
