If you want to run a limited-time promotion on a membership or punch pass, the recommended method is to duplicate your existing offering and modify the promotional details.
This allows you to keep your normal offering unchanged while creating a separate promotional version that can be turned on or off as needed.
Promotional offerings can also be limited to a specific sales window, making them useful for seasonal specials, marketing campaigns, or temporary discounts.
Basic Overview
To create a membership or punch pass promotion:
Duplicate your existing offering.
Update the promotional details.
Adjust the pricing if needed.
Optionally limit when the promotion can be sold.
Update the widget code on your website to display the promotional offering.
Using a duplicated offering allows you to safely modify promotional details without affecting your standard pricing or configuration.
Step 1 – Duplicate Your Existing Offering
Go to:
Data Entry → Manage → Online Membership Offerings – ConfigurationLocate the existing membership or punch pass offering you want to promote.
Select the offering.
Click Copy.
A duplicate copy of the offering will be created and added to the bottom of your list of offerings.
Duplicating the offering copies all existing configuration settings, including:
Participant types
Online descriptions
Custom questions
Terms and conditions
Automated emails
Membership configuration
This makes it easy to create a promotional version without rebuilding the entire offering.
Step 2 – Update the Promotional Details
After duplicating the offering, review the settings and update any information that should be different for the promotion.
Common items you may want to update include:
Offering Name
Example: Summer Membership Special or Holiday Punch Pass SaleOnline Display
Update the short summary description, header text, etc. so customers clearly understand the promotion.Pricing
Adjust the price in the appropriate pricing section for the offering.Terms and Conditions
Add any special rules that apply to the promotion.Confirmation Emails
Update automated emails if you want the messaging to reflect the promotional offer.
Because the offering was duplicated, all original settings will carry over. You can simply modify the items that should be different for the promotional version.
Step 3 – (Optional) Limit When the Promotion Can Be Sold
If the promotion should only be available during a specific timeframe, you can limit when the offering is available online.
Open the promotional offering.
Go to the Availability section on the Properties tab.
Set the start date and end date for when the offering can be purchased.
Once the end date passes, the offering will no longer be bookable online.
Step 4 – Update the Website Widget Code
Online offerings appear on your website using a widget.
After creating your promotional offering:
Go to the Online Widgets section.
Copy the widget code for the promotional offering.
Replace the existing widget code on your website.
When the promotion ends, you can switch the widget back to your standard offering.
Best Practice
Instead of modifying your existing membership or punch pass offering, always create a separate promotional offering.
This allows you to:
Preserve your normal pricing and configuration
Easily enable or disable promotions
Track promotional sales separately
