You can choose to have RGP's POS round the "Change" prompt shown to your staff for cash transactions if your business no longer accepts pennies ($0.01) or similar.
- In the Data Entry main window click Manage and select Settings to bring up the Configure Settings window.
- Click the Payment & Billing tab.
- Under POS check Display change with cash total rounded to X.
- Select the number you wish to round to. The default rounding number is $0.05.
- Click Close to finish.
This configuration will not modify the amount of tax collected or the price for products sold. The only change it makes is to modify the amount of change your staff are prompted to give for cash transactions.
In the screen shot below, the facility has elected to round change to the nearest $0.05. The total price of the transaction is $33.33, and a staff member has specified that the customer has tendered $34.00. A business that conducts transactions to the penny would return $0.67 in change. Since this facility is configured to round change to the nearest $0.05, the staff member has been prompted to return only $0.65 in change.
The difference in the transaction total ($33.33) and the collected total ($33.35) will be reflected in a $0.02 overage (tracked by the "Z-Out Adjustment") for that register in the next Z-Out.
The change is rounded using common rounding conventions, as specified by the Canada Revenue Agency.
