In addition to a Seat Type, every Cloud seat is assigned a Seat Role.
A Seat Role determines what level of access a user has within the RGP Cloud Dashboard.
There are three Cloud Seat Roles:
- Standard Seat
- Group Admin
- Cloud Organization Admin
Important: Seat Roles are different from Seat Types.
A Seat Type determines how a seat is used (Personal Seat or Workstation Seat).
A Seat Role determines what permissions the user has in the RGP Cloud Dashboard.
Standard Seat
A Standard Seat provides access to Rock Gym Pro Cloud without administrative permissions.
Most users should be assigned the Standard Seat role.
Standard Seat Permissions
Standard Seat users can:
- Access Rock Gym Pro Cloud with their seat credentials
- Reset their cloud seat password (if it is a Personal seat as well)
Standard Seat users cannot:
- Manage Cloud seats
- Assign seat roles
- Manage Cloud Dashboard administration settings
Group Admin
A Group Admin has administrative permissions within a specific group.
This role is commonly used by organizations that manage multiple facilities and want to delegate administration to location-specific managers.
Group Admin Permissions
Group Admins can:
- Manage users within their assigned group
Group Admins cannot:
- Manage groups they are not assigned to
Common Uses
Group Admin is often assigned to:
- Facility Managers
- Regional Managers
- Department Leaders responsible for a specific group
Cloud Organization Admin
A Cloud Organization Admin has the highest level of access within the Cloud Dashboard.
This role provides organization-wide administrative control across all groups and locations.
Cloud Organization Admin Permissions
Cloud Organization Admins can:
- Add and remove Cloud seats
- Assign seat roles
- Manage users across all groups
- Manage Group Admin assignments
Common Uses
Cloud Organization Admin is typically assigned to:
- Owners
- Executive Leadership
- Operations Managers
- IT Administrators
Important Requirements
Administrative Roles Should Be Assigned to Personal Seats
Both Group Admin and Cloud Organization Admin permissions should only be assigned to Personal Seats.
Personal Seats are tied to an individual user and protected by two-factor authentication (2FA).
Do Not Assign Administrative Roles to Workstation Seats
Workstation Seats are intended for shared computers and should never be assigned Group Admin or Cloud Organization Admin permissions.
Permission Hierarchy
| Role | Scope |
|---|---|
| Standard Seat | No administrative permissions |
| Group Admin | Administrative permissions for assigned group(s) |
| Cloud Organization Admin | Administrative permissions across the entire organization |
